Review a YouTube video
For agencies. Paste a YouTube link and your client comments on moments in the video, without you uploading the file.
Start a review
- Press New project and pick YouTube.
- Paste the link. A normal video link, a
youtu.belink and a Short all work. - Give the project a name and choose who can open it, then create it.
- Send your client the review link, as with any project.
YouTube review works on every plan, including the Free plan: the video stays on YouTube, so it uses none of your storage. (Uploading your own video files needs a paid plan.)
For a new version, open the project and paste the new link under Start round 2 with a new YouTube link (the number goes up each time).
What your client sees
- The video plays in YouTube's own player. Nothing loads from YouTube until they press play.
- They pause where something needs to change and press Comment at (the time). Each comment is a marker on the timeline below the video, never on top of it.
- Clicking a comment plays the video from that moment.
If the video won't play
- "This video is not available" or "This video can't be played here": the video is private, removed, or its owner doesn't allow it on other sites. Check the video's settings on YouTube, or upload the video file as a Video project instead.
- "YouTube refused to play the video here": reload the page. If it keeps happening, open the link in another browser.
- Open on YouTube opens the same video on youtube.com.
What an approval proves
The sign-off record of a YouTube project records the link, not the video. YouTube content can change without the link changing. If you need proof of the exact video, upload the file as a Video project.
Privacy
We only store the video's id. We don't look the video up or send YouTube anything. Once a viewer presses play, Google gets their IP address and browser details, and YouTube's terms apply to its player. See Privacy and our Sub-processors.
